Teaching in China

The CHEER Foundation has more than 25 years of experience in the teacher recruitment industry. Teachers interested in teaching in China can rest assured that they are in capable hands. The CHEER Foundation is well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and experience to make their transition to the international classroom a seamless one.

 

Teaching abroad has many benefits for both the personal and professional development of an educator. The international teaching environment has been proven to develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills, while also introducing the educator to new teaching methods, and broadening the scope of their professional experience. It also provides an opportunity to build a diverse network of global educators while seeing the world and gaining an invaluable global perspective.

 

CHEER is uniquely positioned as a recruitment agency focused on the recruitment of qualified and experienced teachers from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In order to be considered for a position at one of our affiliated schools, all teachers must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a valid teaching degree or higher qualification

  • Must have at least two years full-time teaching experience in the subject they wish to teach

  • Must be below the age of 55

  • Must be fluent in English.

Teachers who meet the above mentioned criteria can send their CV, a cover letter outlining their experience and the reason why they wish to teach in China (in English) and two reference letters (one of which must be from their most recent place of employment) to admin@cheer.nl. Upon verification of their qualifications, the first step of the application process can begin.

How to apply

Suitable candidates are invited to write English Proficiency and Subject Knowledge tests at the CHEER office in Amstelveen (NL)

Upon successful completion, candidates are invited for a first interview at the CHEER office in Amstelveen (NL)

Based on the outcome of the first interview, candidates are invited to present a demo lesson of their subject at the CHEER office in Amstelveen (NL)

4

After the demo lesson, successful candidates are invited for a Skype interview with the HR department of the school in China

Upon successful selection, our Amstelveen office guides the candidates through the visa application process, while also providing training in preparation for their arrival in China. Upon arrival in China, our staff in Beijing and Shanghai assist with the selection of an apartment, and introduce the new arrivals to the city and the school as we aim to make the transition to an international environment as seamless as possible.
